About HKUST(GZ)
Formally established in June 2022, the HKUST(GZ) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in campus-wide cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, endeavoring to nurture future-ready, high-level and creative talents.
HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school/college” and “department”, facilitating mission-oriented pursuit to address global challenges while developing emerging and frontier disciplines. About LASERi
The LASERi, established in April 2024, is the first key university-wide research platform at HKUST(GZ). We recognize the vast potential and complexity associated with the low-altitude economy highlighted by heterogenous flight vehicles operating in the low airspace supporting passenger transportation, goods delivery, and a wide range of commercial, industrial, agricultural and environmental missions.
The LASERi has so far attracted over 80 faculty and researchers to address key areas including data platform, information and physical flow, materials and manufacturing, and networks, navigation and safety. The LASERi has recently launched a Seed Project Scheme, funding dozens of selected projects to embark on path finding and solution provision in the designated areas.
To advance the strategic development of LASERi, we are seeking a scholar of exceptional caliber to serve as its founding General Director. We welcome applications through both self-nomination and peer nomination. 低空經(jīng)濟(jì)研究院簡介
低空經(jīng)濟(jì)研究院（LASERi）是香港科技大學(xué)（廣州）于2024年4月正式成立的首個(gè)跨學(xué)科重點(diǎn)研究平臺(tái)。香港科技大學(xué)（廣州）深刻認(rèn)識(shí)到低空經(jīng)濟(jì)的廣闊前景及其復(fù)雜性，特別是在低空飛行器支持的客運(yùn)、貨物運(yùn)輸以及廣泛的商業(yè)、工業(yè)、農(nóng)業(yè)和環(huán)境任務(wù)方面的應(yīng)用潛力。
LASERi專注于數(shù)據(jù)平臺(tái)、信息與物流、材料與制造，以及網(wǎng)絡(luò)、導(dǎo)航與安全等關(guān)鍵領(lǐng)域，已吸引80余名學(xué)術(shù)和研究人員加入。研究院近期啟動(dòng)的種子項(xiàng)目計(jì)劃已有20余個(gè)項(xiàng)目獲批，旨在特定領(lǐng)域開展創(chuàng)新探索，并提供前瞻性解決方案。

Responsibilities for General Director
1. Provide vision, and to lead LASERi to become an influential research institution locally and globally;
2. Facilitate the conduct of research of high quality and impact, and promote genuine cross-disciplinary endeavors with the optimal use of resources;
3. Develop a domestic and international network to partner with government, industries and research institutions in education, research and knowledge transfer activities;
4. Build relationships at all levels to strengthen cohesion among members of diverse backgrounds, and to create synergies in coordination with the Hubs and Thrusts within the University;
5. Work with the Executive Director and administrative staff to address all managerial responsibilities applicable to LASERi.
工作職責(zé)
1. 為研究院制定清晰的戰(zhàn)略愿景，領(lǐng)導(dǎo)研究院成為具有本地及全球影響力的頂尖研究機(jī)構(gòu)；
2. 推動(dòng)研究院開展高質(zhì)量且具有廣泛影響力的創(chuàng)新研究，高效整合資源以促進(jìn)跨學(xué)科合作；
3. 通過教育、研究和知識(shí)轉(zhuǎn)移活動(dòng)，建立與國內(nèi)及國際政府、企業(yè)和其他研究機(jī)構(gòu)的合作網(wǎng)絡(luò)；
4. 加強(qiáng)研究院不同領(lǐng)域?qū)W術(shù)人員的凝聚力，激勵(lì)在大學(xué)樞紐和學(xué)域之間創(chuàng)造協(xié)同效應(yīng)；
5. 與執(zhí)行院長及行政團(tuán)隊(duì)緊密合作，全面履行研究院的管理職責(zé)。
Qualifications for LASERi General Director
1. An earned doctorate degree, qualified to be appointed as a full professor at the University;
2. Distinguished academic achievements and international professional standing in closely related disciplines，demonstrated leadership through large-scale team management, and the ability to drive strategic institutional initiatives;
3. Commitment to fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration by working directly with the faculty and other researchers;
4. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills, including capabilities and interest in engaging the government and the outside community;
5. Appreciation of international, multicultural university settings, and experiences in management of human resources, finance, and compliance.
資歷要求
1. 擁有博士學(xué)位，符合香港科技大學(xué)（廣州）正教授同等資質(zhì)；
2. 在低空經(jīng)濟(jì)相關(guān)領(lǐng)域具有卓越的學(xué)術(shù)成就和國際聲譽(yù)，具備領(lǐng)導(dǎo)大型團(tuán)隊(duì)的豐富經(jīng)驗(yàn)，能夠推動(dòng)機(jī)構(gòu)的戰(zhàn)略性舉措；
3. 致力于通過促進(jìn)學(xué)術(shù)和研究人員的直接合作，推動(dòng)跨學(xué)科的合作與創(chuàng)新；
4. 擁有卓越的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)能力、人際溝通能力、團(tuán)隊(duì)建設(shè)能力，并具備與政府及外部社區(qū)進(jìn)行有效互動(dòng)的能力和興趣；
5. 適應(yīng)國際化、多元化的大學(xué)環(huán)境，具備人力資源、財(cái)務(wù)及合規(guī)管理方面的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
